FieldGearHQ is an independent site that helps HVAC technicians, electricians and other field service pros choose tools and gear. We cover the equipment that decides how a service call goes: meters, vacuum pumps, gauges, leak detectors and recovery machines, plus the bags, workwear and jobsite gear that get you through a long day.
What we publish
- Buying guides that compare the realistic options in a category and name a pick for each kind of buyer.
- Product reviews that go deeper on a single tool: what it does well, where it falls short, and what to buy instead if it is not the right fit.
- Guides and checklists for questions that come before a purchase, like what an HVAC service tech actually carries or what size ladder a two-story house needs.
How we work
Our guides are research-based. We build them from manufacturer specification sheets and manuals, published trade resources, and the patterns that show up across owner reviews and technician discussions. We do not run a test lab, and we do not claim hands-on testing we have not done. When a guide includes first-hand use, it will say so explicitly.
You can read the full process on our How we choose gear page.
How we make money
FieldGearHQ is reader-supported. Some links on the site go to Amazon, and if you buy through them we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. No manufacturer pays to be included, and commissions never decide which product we recommend. Details are on our affiliate disclosure.
